Education Programs
Since children remain largely unprotected from COVID-19, we will continue to require employees and participants in programs geared toward children to wear face coverings, even when outdoors (with some exceptions including when eating, drinking, or swimming).
- ABOUT ZOO BOISE EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Zoo Boise’s mission is to connect our visitors with animals to inspire and involve our community in the conservation of wildlife worldwide. Our programs strive to fulfill the zoo’s mission by providing unique, fun and engaging nature-focused experiences that foster appreciation for animals and their environments as well as raise awareness of conservation issues and possible solutions.
Zoo program activities include up-close animal encounters, zoo tours, nature walks, ecology games and simulations, science-based investigations & explorations, zookeeper presentations and some interesting Zoo Boise history.
Zoo Boise youth camps include:
- Zoo guided tours
- Classroom lessons, demonstrations, and experiments
- Exploration of animal biofacts
- Daily animal encounter or enrichment
- Arts & crafts projects
- Educational videos

ZOO CAMPS – AGES 8-12
Cost per camp is $215 for full-day and $110 for half-day. Members can get a discount code by sending us an EMAIL.
ZOOKEEPING 101
What is it like to work at a zoo? Learn to design and create exhibits, make diets, identify scat, train animals, make enrichment toys for animals, meet zoo staff and find out how zoos and their visitors are helping to protect animals in the wild. *Half day camps will include take home activities for more zoo fun from the comfort of your home!

From the adorable to the powerful, from the intelligent to the truly bizarre, mammals are found the world over. During camp we will get to know the individual mammal ambassadors here at Zoo Boise, build enrichments to entice them, and learn about their wild counter parts and distant relatives. *Half day camps will include take home activities for more zoo fun from the comfort of your home!

Animals have always been celebrated in different forms of art. From paintings to sculpture to dance and music – we’ll explore all forms of art and make some of our own with a messy Zoo Boise twist! *Half day camps will include take home activities for more zoo fun from the comfort of your home!

Love animals and want to help protect them? Join the Zoo Boise Conservation Crew to try out and learn real ways you and your friends and family can have a positive impact on wildlife around the world! Study real lions, experiment with insects, explore eggs and bones, and meet some wild animal ambassadors up close! *Half day camps will include take home activities for more zoo fun from the comfort of your home!

If you are a Friends of Zoo Boise pass holder, please be sure to enroll in the activity number listed under the Friends of Zoo Boise Rate to receive the discount. A current pass is required and must be available for proof upon registration and at program check-in.
