Wild African Dog/Hyena & Gibbon Buildings are Complete

Zoo Boise’s expansion and brand new Gorongosa National Park Exhibit opens on July 17!

The new exhibit will feature a variety of animals that can be seen in Gorongosa National Park, including wild African dogs, baboons, Nile crocodiles, vervet monkeys, otters, hyenas, warthogs, nyala and more! The exhibit will also tell the story of the agricultural, medical and education programs that are in place to partner with the people of Mozambique. The exhibit will be a way for visitors to learn about all the components of a real life conservation project as it unfolds.

The Wild African Dog/Hyena & Gibbon Buildings are complete and will soon be ready for the animals to move in!

Both buildings have amazing inside and outside exhibits! The exhibits not only ensure that visitors can see the animals year around, but are built with the top animal welfare standards in mind.

The inside exhibits have blown mulch in them, because it’s what’s best for the animals feet and is more eco-friendly. This is just one of the many touches that ensure the animals and the staff caring for them are happy and safe!
