Painted Dog Research After-hours Presentation

Meet and greet Painted Dog Research founder and executive director Dr. Gregory Rasmussen for a free, after-hours presentation about Africa’s most successful hunters – the African painted dog – on Tuesday, January 27 from 5:30-7PM.

Dr. Rasmussen is the one of the world’s premier field biologists, dedicating nearly 40 years to studying the endangered painted dog (also known as the African wild dog). With only around 6,600 remaining in the wild, painted dogs face serious threats from habitat loss, human conflict, and roads. Rasmussen founded Painted Dog Research in 2014 in northwest Zimbabwe, one of the species’ last strongholds.

Learn how you can help support Painted Dog Research’s conservation education and field research to secure a future for these highly social carnivores.

“While painted dogs are our flagship species, our holistic conservation work also includes habitat restoration, conservation education, and climate mitigation,” said Dr. Rasmussen. “The biodiversity crisis touches every continent—and painted dogs are among the most vulnerable.”

Open to the public.
This will be an indoor event; the rest of the zoo will be closed.
